The Program Contract used by ACAC and continued by PACT is fairly convoluted and confusing. When PACT took over the contract from the city from ACAC, I volunteered my services in designing forms for them (I actually love designing forms!). I spent about 10 and a half hours working on this including time spent in discussion with Maria and Marion for their input. The result is a form which responds to the needs of the staff as well as the producers. It has not, however, been adopted by PACT Management.
Program Contract-FRONT
1. The
title of the form is tailor-made to fit into the rack next to Maria so the title
would show (even if placed backward). When producers would go to the rack they
would have to pull each form out to see the title or have to recognize some
of the print.
2. The "Format" and "Type" sections are actually organized
to make sense.
3. The landscape format was chosen to facilitate reading it for the staff. Of
course, Marion has been reading the forms for more than a decade so he understands
it, but staff actually has to flip the page over to continue the information
on the lines "1", "2", "3", etc.
4. In general, information is grouped approriately, unnecessary boxes are removed,
and appropriate amounts of space were given for the information to be included.
5. The information for live shows is separated from that of taped shows instead
of having it throughout the form. It was difficult to figure out what had to
be completed and what was irrelevant to your situation. For instance the tape
title is only for taped shows, but was not with the "taped shows only"
section.
